Happiness Happens Challenge Day 9

Updated: Sep 16, 2022

For today's challenge, wear a piece of colorful clothing!

Years ago, I came upon this verse...

Dress festively every morning. Don’t skimp on colors and scarves

(Ecclesiates 9:8)

I intentionally sprinkled my wardrobe with lots of pink and colorful items as I pondered what could be the reason for having instructions like this in the Bible. I decided that you simply feel better when you dress brightly. Then I found out there is actually some psychological studies to support that!

Why does wearing bright colors help fuel positive feelings?

Looking at warm, bright colours, such as red or pink, releases dopamine — known as the “feel-good hormone” — which can improve our mood [and] heighten the attention span...

(Standish, 2014)

Just putting on something bright can lighten your mood, and I bet it will rub off on those around you as well. Just try and see if you don't catch some smiles when you put on something bright.

So, what will you wear today?

Standish, J. (2014, December 7). Scientists have found brighter clothes make you happier!
